Turns Out, I'm Fine

Judith Lucy is flying solo. In conversation with Australian Radio Presenter, Richard Fidler (broadcast ABC 8/4/21), Judith Lucy shares her sadness at the loss of her brother to cancer, her upheaval going through menopause, despair at climate change, and if that wasn't enough.... betrayal by her gaslighting partner, and the subsequent end of her relationship with a man who she thought she would spend forever with. With her undeniable unique sense of humour, Lucy speaks candidly about the necessary but very unpleasant experience of sitting with the sadness, grief and anger which engulfed her when her life took a turn for the worse. Then at 50, coming to the realisation that she might actually face a future on her own.... feelings which filled her with immense grief. Difficulty accepting this reality, is not uncommon among many women today. It was also my experience at the beginning of my 53rd year. In Lucy's latest book "Turns Out I'm Fine" she writes about her journey.

Life sometimes turns out in ways we could never have imagined. Sometimes, what you thought you really wanted in life, you discover you never really wanted at all. Life can sometimes be messy, but it can also amaze us. The things we learn about ourselves on our individual journey, can take us in directions we had never contemplated before. When self-love exists being alone can be wonderful. Commitment to our own self-care and self-compassion is paramount, because when we love ourselves fully, we don't need someone else to make us feel whole. That's because we already are!
