What is Marrying Me?

MARRYING ME is about self acceptance that makes you feel happy and fulfilled. The preparation of vows is designed to take what is inside your heart and make a public commitment to yourself. Self marriage is a celebration of self love with a ceremony rich with everything that is you by someone who understands that the greatest commitment you have is to yourself.

This celebration is becoming more popular and even has a special name around the world - self marriage or sologamy. In a MARRYING ME ceremony you'll be the star in a sparkling day resonating the undeniable truth that in order to best nurture everyone in your world, you must first cherish yourself.

MARRYING ME was born out of a conversation between two sisters in Melbourne, Australia. Robbie, a full time civil celebrant, first discovered the idea of self marriage several years ago, and it had been in the back of her mind for some years. After some of life's trials and tribulations, something deeply resonated with her about making the formal promise to herself to fully love and care for herself, in order that she may enjoy life more fully and care more for others. One could argue that marrying yourself first be a pre-requisite to marrying another person. One day, on the phone to her sister Monica, she mentioned her idea and that's when MARRYING ME came to life. Monica felt wholeheartedly that there was no reason that being single should exclude anyone from a commitment ceremony as beautiful as a wedding. So, with the resolution that self love is the first step to inner contentment and happiness, and in turn truly deepening our intimacy with others, MARRYING ME was born.

In February 2021 on her birthday, Robbie finally experienced the ceremony for herself with her family and a small group of close friends.
